Dr. Fred Harkleroad
Fred Harkleroad graduated from Tennessee High in 1970 and from King College in 1974. He did 2 years of Graduate work at ETSU before moving to Memphis.
​
From 1976 through 1980, Fred studied at UT Memphis School of Medicine, where he earned his MD.
​
Dr. Harkleroad did his Internship and Residency in Family Practice from 1980-1983. The US Navy was honored with his service from 1983-1987.
​
For thirty years, 1987-2017, he practiced medicine in the Bristol area. He was sometimes on his own and sometimes with a group. He did Family Practice, Obstetrics, and more. He worked in Urgent Care for many of his years of caring for patients of all ages.
​
He has been a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bristol for over 50 years. He is ordained as both a deacon and an elder; he is currently serving on the Session (the church's leadership team).
​
Fred has been married to Heidi for 43 years. They have 2 kids and 3 grand kids. Fred loves to play golf; walking the course is his physical exercise. He also loves to play bridge.
He retired in 2017 and is excited to teach teenagers; he enjoys connecting with young people and helping them learn.
