Dr. Marc Strand, PhD To All Instructors

Doctor Strand has a B.S. in Chemistry from Missouri Western University and a Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Tennessee. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 2023, where he worked as a research chemist for nearly 35 years. While at Eastman, he developed and taught a course called “The Chemistry of Eastman”. This course was taught all over the world at various Eastman Chemical company sites.

Dr. Strand has been teaching home school students since 2000 when his own children were home schooled. He has also taught organic chemistry at the college level for Virginia Intermont College and the Organic Chemistry of Polymers for Ph.D. students for the University of Tenneessee. Dr. Strand is Married to Becky, they have three children and nine grandchildren. His hobbies are music, woodworking and grandkids.  Dr. Strand is the orchestra director at Higher Ground Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN.
